Who Am I?

I’m a mom, sister, devoted friend and wellness professional living in Northern California. I started practicing yoga at 19 while studying engineering. While it seems this would be an unusual composition of interests, I loved how yoga helped me become more in touch with my body and spirituality. I believe in the transformative power of yoga and am excited to share the practice with you.

The Practice of Being Well

Being well took on a whole new meaning for me in 2012. Divorce devastated me financially, emotionally, energetically. Not only was I navigating motherhood, nursing throughout the night and day, trying my best to adjust to my new role, but at 5 months postpartum, I found myself sitting in an attorney’s office, sobbing over the […]

Focus on What You Want

Winter Solstice

Hurray! It’s my birthday! Forty trips around the sun– how’s that for space travel? Seriously, I’m ecstatic to celebrate LIFE and the joys and sorrows it brings. SPOILER ALERT: In my yoga classes and private sessions with clients this week, I’ve been passing out little glass stones with a word or phrase of inspiration. I […]

Beyond Relativity

Night before last, my little one woke up crying. I ran into her bedroom and found her sitting up, half awake. “Oh sweetie, what’s wrong?” She wrapped her arms around my neck. “A scary, mean elephant was chasing me!” I reassured her that she was safe. That she was having a bad dream and that […]

Parsva Bakrasana

After 20 years of practice, and lots of tweaks, bumps and bruises along the way, I got a kinda serious injury. I taught a class Monday morning and did a demo of parsva bakasana about 4 or 5 times. It was a large class so I went to each side of the room and was […]

Awww... spider eggs!

Thoughts on Impermanence

Warning: If you suffer from arachnophobia, my apologies! Window cleaning is probably one of my least favorite tasks. I’ll clean twenty toilets and the refrigerator after a couple of weeks away on vacation with joy before I get to the windows. But when some of the perks of your home are copious amounts of sunlight and […]

Stop shoulding on yourself!

I wish I were taller. Or thinner. I should be more flexible. Or more muscular. I wish my thighs didn’t jiggle or I had six-pack abs. If I could just lose these last 10, 20, 50 pounds then I would be happy, satisfied, fulfilled. I should meditate. Blah, blah, blah. I am so grateful for […]

It's Chanda. Future engineer and yoga teacher.

Course Correction

Future engineer and yoga teacher.   When I was a little girl, I wanted to be an astronaut. I loved watching reruns of Star Trek with my big brother and I had a huge desire to explore this world and beyond. And besides, those uniforms were ah-mazing! Many of my school teachers recognized my aptitude for […]
